Comments from the artist: In the midst of tragedy, when all seems lost, the human spirit takes over and survival and live engages, This is what my print is about. The spirit is symbolized by the butterfly that leaps from the destruction of the flood like the Phoenix leaped from the ashes in mythology. The butterfly's colors and design are based on an actual Japanese butterfly.
