Information on the print: Woodcut on shina plywood, Caligo black ink, Kitikata green paper with Lama Li Lokta chine collé, hand cut soft block applied with Color Box pigment ink.
Comments from the artist: The Blood Trilliums in my garden were blooming when Japan was hit with the earth quake, tsunami and subsequent devastation. I perforated the paper for chine collé by burning with an electro pounce. I then tore the paper by hand. I like the chaotic randomness of the burning/tearing as it is much the same that happened to Japan. Hopefully both Japan and the print will be viewed as a united whole.
