Print Title: About the Pond
Paper Dimension: 10 x 15 in
Image Dimension: 8 x 12 in
Block: 7 Cherry plywood
Pigment or Ink: Daniel Smith Oil Based
Paper: Somerset
Edition: 50
Comments: About the Pond is one of four images related to the Fantastic Garden Monumental Puzzle Print, a collaboration among international printmakers.
The images derived from the large puzzle print are playful and fun, both to draw and to render as woodcuts.
For this image I went back to my beginnings and used the creamy and sweet smelling oil based inks. Printing on dry Western paper is virtually problem free. Because of the opacity of the inks I also went back to my old method of printing all colors first, then key block at the end.

Comments: I love gardening, both flowers and food. My gardens tend to be full of critters both big and small from beehives to rabbits and skunks. Though I've been lucky not to find slugs or snails chewing the plants, I do enjoy finding them in the forest. I love the snail's shell and even they can be varied in size shape and colour. So I cut this block to both show the snail and the beauty contained within the shell. The block was hand printed with caligo environmentally friendly inks and a baren.Name: Patrick Armstrong

Paper Dimension: 15” x 10”
Image Dimension: 10” x 7”
Block: 4 block linoleum
Pigment or Ink: Daniel Smith water soluble ink
Paper: Stonehenge
Edition:26
Comments: I tried to play with the concept of
being a mom of a small boy and how that, truly,
is my main “garden” in life. My son, Dylan has
always been tall for his age, and it doesn’t seem
to be slowing down anytime soon. This piece was
developed from a photo I took of him as he hung
out with me one day. The cool colors symbolize
his winter birthday, yet he is the one who gardens
with me in my plant garden all summer long. He
LOVES it, so the pattern “becomes” him.Name: Monica Bright

Paper Dimension: 15\" x 10\"
Image Dimension: 9.5\" x 6\"
Block: Mounted linoleum
Pigment or Ink: Daniel Smith Relief Oil
Paper: BFK Rives
Edition: Open
Comments: My porch railing is full of orchid plants which, with our humid rainy weather, require nothing more than an appreciative audience.
Printing this drove me crazy. One would think a simple black and white print easy but, because of the shape, I finally had to resort to a template in order to mask the cut areas. That kept the print tidy and not full of unwanted \"energy\" marks.Name: Diane Cutter

Comments: My gardens these days are prairie gardens to the extent possible, and the yellow coneflower is a defining species of the tallgrass prairie. I was first educated about the prairie on a tour at Garfield Farm in LaFox, IL and when the tour guide (a position I now often fill) snapped a seedhead from a yellow coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) plant, crushed the seeds into her palm, and poured them into mine to smell the wonder fragrance, I was forever hooked on prairie. Now these elegantly swaying flowers glow in my own gardens.Name: Karma Grotelueschen
