Artist Statement: There is no one single printmaker or artist that seems to influence my art work, but I am drawn to the art work of most of the German expressionists during the early 1900's.

In doing this exchange I decided to look up women printmakers during this time period and try to come up with a print influenced by an artist. I choose Gabriele Munter. She was one of the first artists to exhibit with the German Expressionist group known as the Blue Rider and one of the very few women associated with the movement. Although she worked mainly in oil paintings, she also worked in woodcuts.

Note: In the end as I was numbering and signing my prints I kept looking at them and it seems that perhaps because of my choice in colors that they took on more of a "Warhol" feeling than I had intended. I included this statement as an insight to what I was trying to do. It was an interesting experiment for me.
