Artist's comments ...

Birch puzzle block, oil based inks (black, copper, gold). Paper is silk handmade, beautiful but falls apart right on the block and causes me to stop and pick strands continuously. Maybe that represents all the work that previous printmakers have put into the craft so that I could learn and attempt to imitate.

I was overwhelmed by the theme and found myself spinning in a whirlpool of images representing all those printmakers, past and present, that continue to fuel my love for the craft. Every time I pick up a new book or surf a new website I find myself awed, humbled and energized by another printmaker. I settled on my favorite printmaker representing those gone past and one that inspires me to this day with her energy and charming wit.
