Jerelee Basist First Blush (Click image to pop-up an enlargement ) Artist's comments ... 'First Blush' is a Japanese Woodblock Print that will not be an edition. Each print is considered an original piece of art since every block was painted differently. I carved three woodblocks - the background, the body and outside pear, and then the middle pear. I used water color gouache on top of my woodblock images and applied a Japanese brush to spread the color. I then put the dampened Japanese paper on top of the blocks and pressed a round disk called a Baren on top of the paper for the color to be printed.
