Wow, Graham.  Way to spread the Baren love and supportive mood.  I suppose Einstein wasn't allowed any funny faces either.

I, too, have had problems with Simple Green, which I have heard, but
have no proof, that it is not all that green. What has worked for me
is very simple, and I use it for oil painting brushes, or etching/
relief inks. It is: the cheapest veggie oil on the planet - whatever
is on sale, or a store brand. Put it in an old mustard or dish
washing detergent bottle - something with a twist open or push pull
kind of opening. Follow that with a squirt of rubbing alcohol which I
also buy whenever it is on sale. I've replaced the screw cap with a
detergent bottle push-pull cap which is easy to open and then close
immediately to prevent evaporation in the bottle and no cap to be
chasing continually. This is easier on my hands than the dishwashing
detergent, I don't know why - but may be because you need so little of
it. One of the alcohol bottles has a patch of velcro attached to the
side and the other side of the velcro is attached to the side of the
press. I always have it handy to clean any ink from the press bed.
Pretty cool, huh? You can get the velcro with sticky-back stuff on it
so it is really an easy trick.
This has been my regimen for 20 years and has served me well - hope it
will do the same for others.

Cheers ~
Sharri

Faces are Mike's bread and butter. I think Graham Scholes is just
competing. Mike, you ought to tell Graham how to paint lighthouses. Jean
