This new yahoo groups is my worse nightmare. I got the digest. When I
signed up for it I definitely checked digest. Now I have tons of
individual emails in my inbox. I don't have the time or the patience
to deal with this. If that is how i will be receiving Baren in the
future I will leave this group. What a nightmare. I have loved being a
member for a long time. I feel I have made many wonderful art friends.
But, I simply can't deal with this.

Marilynn,
maybe you chose "individual mails" when you joined the group? I did, but
I made an new yahoo email-account. So it's no problem for me. I can
manage the emails just by reading the headers.

Hope you receive this as this, too, is a nightmare for me.
I, also have made such wonderful friends on this group and hate to see it
end.
But I have enough stress in my life without compounding it further.
Luckily I do have individual e mails so I can keep in touch with a few
members.

Sometimes progress is a no gress.

Jeanne, Marilynn and others,
Let's remember that these changes are meant to relieve some of the work and
stress of the volunteers who do the work to keep Baren up and running.
This new system is apparently going to reduce the amount of work
substantially. They say it has the added benefits of sharing images and
files. These benefits are not available to everyone but including images
more readily does widen the facility of sharing especially for a group like
Baren.

Unfortunately it comes at a somewhat tedious cost (in time and energy) for
everyone. It is not because of this Baren change-over, rather it is part of
the structure of the cybernetic universe (that is, it is part of the
Internet itself).

Is the cybernetic age worth it? No one seems to be asking this question
anymore - I still think it is a worthwhile question !

In the meantime, Jeanne and Marilynn, I suggest you do as I did, and
subscribe to the bare-bones version of the Baren-forum. Our conversation
can continue as always (although I don't know if others will be going to
Faceblank or ________). In this version I just don't have access to images
or files, just the conversation.

PS As for too many emails, this will die down in a few weeks -- the
adjustments and the details of this change-over require ironing out the
wrinkles.
