I sent an email a bit back...but haven't received a response. I need to know if ya'll are still planning on participating in the exchange. The drop out deadline is literally around the corner.

Sorry Monica - didn't realize you needed a confirmation. Here it is - I'm in!

By the way, your dragon is just wonderful. I put it in a frame. How many blocks did you use? Beautiful color combo.

Hola Bareners!

I've been accepted into a group show where all the artists create 50 pieces in 50 days - whew! All work is 6" x 6", and must be mounted on MDF panels.
Since MDF has all sorts of nice toxins in it, I've gessoed my panels, which I hope will protect the paper (Rives BFK) from any long-term damage.

My question: do any of you have a glue that you would recommend, that is particularly successful in mounting paper to a wood/gesso backing?

Thank you for your help!

Melissa

Melissa.
Yes paste will work as will acrylic medium...just brush it on the back of the paper, place the paper, lay wax paper over it and roll with a small brayer from the center out....if the paper is larger than the board you can brush the glue onto the board...I find that works a little better. Then you can lay it upside down on the wax paper and let dry with a few books on top till the next day. Either pull the paper around and glue on the back, or lay it face down on glass and trim with a razor blade, both work, the razor blade being easier.
If the yes paste is too thick, you can thin it with water...just brush it out until it no longer separated but is a solid surface with no breaks. I think other glues will work as well, PVA should work so use what you have available. After all it is not coming off the board. You might sand the gesso before you glue so it is smooth.
Good luck
My best
Barbara

The next impression is perhaps not so obvious - it's a slight gradation on the green from the left corner ...
