Akua intaglio will not buckle dry paper, you thin it with transparent base,
don't use water with it.
The oil relief inks will not damage the paper, they are made to go on paper with
no damage. The transparent base (green) might.... who makes it? If it is made to
mix with oil based inks you don't have to worry about that either. I like your
prints...good job!

Hello Bareners, Just thought I'd pass this along. 3 of my fellow
artists on another list have all been contacted by the same person
"Debby Barnes" with identical emails to purchase work before her
supposed 'move to South Africa'. She includes a little too much
personal details about her life which may tip you off. The messages are
actually better than a lot of other scam emails but the 'Check being
sent' and 'shipper contacting the artist' is pretty consistant with
other art buying scams I've seen. Just be on the lookout if you recieve
one of these emails from 'Debby Barnes'.
Happy printing.

Viza, it is a wonderful print. I can't wait to try my daisies out
with white line. First though I am printing my first block today for
my art book. I had to delay printing because we got a new little one,
Dani joined our little dog Sunday and he needs tons of love and
attention. (a "surrender" dog from the shelter) As far as paper is
concerned I think you should just enjoy the print and the process. At
times we have to make trade off decisions. If the paper works and the
print is good archival qualities may not be a high priority. I found
exquisite hand made paper here in Mexico for my art book project and
am not at all sure it is acid free and truly archival. But the paper
is so lovely that I decided that was certainly good enough. Hey high
end may be beautiful hand made, not necessarily coming with an
archival label.

Hello friends,

This is your now weekly reminder that Exchange #47 is due by February 1st, yikes!

I know everyone is caught up with the excitement of the New Year and all the other stuff going on but it’s time to buckle down and get this done. I have heard from some of you and one person has already mailed their prints.

We have 27 remaining participants so I will need 28 prints, one for the archive.

Patti Phare-Camp, please email me directly as your email keeps bouncing even though it “seems” to be spelled correctly.

My own print is now in the process of transfer to the color blocks, the easy part. Printing begins at the end of this week. In February I plan on remodeling the kitchen (no, seriously!) so the sooner I get these prints collated and sent back, the better.

Let’s say prints in my hands by the weekend of February 5th? That’s still four full weeks, plenty of time to panic, cry a little, regroup, panic again and get it done.

Happy printing everyone!

Maria, Coordinator Exchange 47

Hello Bareners: I don't know what's happened but it seems my email and web
host changes have somehow not been as seamless as they should have
been...since the hiccups happened well after I made the changes and during
the holidays I didn't realize I wasn't getting the baren forum until a few
nights ago. My greatest annoyance is that I was somehow removed from the
Year of the Rabbit exchange list after I had signed up for it! I've been
working to make the new years cards and it seems a shame not to
participate...also this will be the first year since I became a barener that
I'm not part of the exchange -- booooo hoooo...Well I'm back and hopefully
there will be no more hiccups kicking me out of the system ever again!!!! A
bubbly toast to a new year of the making of art! Cheers -- Patti Phare-Camp

Hi everyone and thanks so much for you kind words and helpful
comments. Barbara I meant to say i used lots of transparent base in
the green ink. I might try the akua intaglio inks or possibly one of
the safe wash inks by Gamblin, Charbonnel or Caligo next time.
Louise I did a small white line study for a large print a while back
here is a link to the image
in the small and medium sized prints that i have done the registration
and paper stretch hasn't been to much of a problem but with the larger
prints (18X24) and up the paper stretch is way more problematic so i
decided to do this oily white line experiment to see how i like it and
if it would work for the Giant bamboo woodcut. I plan on starting to
carve the bamboo block tomorrow.

The next figure on the "stage" of this print is Jesus. The figure I carved and printed above is based on a children's Sunday School curriculum I found online. I was especially struck by the similarity between the cloud the figure stands on and a nuclear mushroom cloud.

I was raised in a mainstream Protestant church-going family and as such I was taught that the Jews of the Old Testament had a special relationship with God. Since Jews and Christians share the same scriptures in the Old Testament, I figured that the God of the Jews and the God of Christians is the same God. I was taught that Jews who rejected Jesus as the messiah lost that special relationship, but in my mind as a child I figured that since we Christians had come from Judaism, the Jews and I were some kind of cousins.

Although the church of my childhood didn't emphasize the Biblical prophecies of Armageddon or the Second Coming of Christ, I knew about these beliefs. Books like The Late Great Planet Earth in the 1970s, and the more contemporary Left Behind series in the 1990s did much to popularize them. So I wasn't surprised to learn that in a 2004 Time/CNN poll, over one-third of those Americans who support Israel reported that they do so because they believe the Bible teaches that the Jews must . . .
