Ellen I love that Dolphin carving. I found a dead sea horse on the
beach. You make me want to carve it. However, I almost have a
drawing on a plate ready to start, guess it will have to wait! You
inspired me. That is the best thing about this list, just reading it
keeps me in touch with other artists.

Thank you Marilynn,

I am always inspired on here. Glad I could do my part. ;-]

I was surprised and encouraged by organizing my prints this week. I had no
idea I had over 100 woodcuts made in something like 6 years. I want to go
back and print some of the older blocks, but I have current committments and
have to move on.

I'd love to see a seahorse woodcut. Go for it. 8-]

Hi Bareners!

We have had several participants withdraw from this exchange and find ourselves short by about four (4) to have a full 30 in the exchange. Realizing that this is pushing it close to the delivery deadline of May 1st, we are still sending out an appeal to anyone who feels that they could step up to help complete the exchange. You can still use the sign up page for this exchange on the Baren site to join.

Thanks for your support!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry about the second post. I just let it slip my mind before I hit send. We've had several potential themes suggested for Exchange 45 and now it's time to place your vote.
The following are suggestions for the theme:
Home
Maps
Fantasy

Homelessness

Simile (busy as a bee, crazy like a fox, dry as an old bone, stubborn as a..., etc.)

Hope I haven't missed any. You'll have to let me know if I have. Now is the time to place your vote! You have until midnight on March 30th to cast a vote for one of these themes. The theme will be announced on March 31st and signups will begin April 1st.

Subject: Mystique Series : Venues for promotion ...
Posted by: Dave Bull

OK, here's a post with a request to make ...

Given that the number of subscribers hasn't exactly run through the roof on this new series (76 at the moment), I'm going to have to start to 'get out there' to try and get some attention.

But I'm not quite sure what kind of places to focus on. Does it matter? It certainly seems to ... As an example, I had an experience a couple of years ago where I got what I thought was a good piece of publicity, but which turned out to be not quite as it seemed at first. Perhaps you have heard of the blogger Jason Kottke (one of the earliest people making waves in that field). A couple of years ago, after I wrote to him about my work he decided to write a little feature about it, and this brought in nearly a dozen new subscribers over the next few days. Sounds good.

Unfortunately, around half of those people ended up quitting or became 'no-pay', I suppose because of the demographic involved. So it's not enough just 'getting publicity' and running the numbers up; the 'core' market for what I do is obviously more limited than the overall 'general' market.

Many of you who are reading these RoundTable posts are already collectors - or potential collectors - so are thus kind of 'selected', and this gives me a chance to glean some interesting data. If I were to think of people like you as being my best potential audience, where would I reach 'you'? You (perhaps) don't read kottke.org, but what kind of places do you read?

If you don't mind, please drop some links into the Comments section below. Please give me a good cross-section of places on the internet where 'my kind of people' spend their time!
