Hello Viza,

If you are going to build one of these presses, be sure to use my latest design. The instructions are very complete, and I have included useful material on registration for multi-color work. The new design makes the press easier to build and makes the press much stronger as well. To obtain the new plans, just email me privately, or you can download them here:

These plans are not yet on my website.

A young lady just recently built one of these with some help from her father. She chronicled the whole thing and posted to Wetcanvas here:

I really love my bottle jack press, and use it all the time.

Cheers ...... Charles

I know I am outrageously late, and I really do appologize. But I am making progress.

I just finished printing my Year of the Boar cards ... they are hanging to dry and will be sent out shortly. I did a run of 80 so that I would have some to send to other friends. At times I really question my dedication to the puzzle block format. Each card took about 10 minutes to ink, assemble and print. So the 80 cards took two brutal days in the studio. Thank Zeus for my bottle jack press.

Year of the Rat and Year of the Ox blocks are carved, pieces cut out, and all sealed with shellac, ready to ink and print. I will start on them either later today or tomorrow. I am determined to finish this VERY soon.

Again, my apologies ... especially to those who have been more conscientious than I. I have enjoyed all of your cards ... I hope to be back in your good graces soon.

Cheers ...... Charles

What!?! I haven't gotten my boar yet? I think I speak for all of us that, even tardy (tardisimo in this case), boars and rats and oxen (oh, my) are always appreciated whenever they allow us to print and send them out.

There is something about art and deadlines that just don't meld. Is it we are all so cleverly creative only when the muses strike. which never coincides with a date? Or are we just so busy in so many artistic endeavors that the dreaded deadline looms large like that youthful New Year's promise to get the library books back on time.

I wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Charles, I'll be on the lookout for a festive bore... hmmm ... boar. I can do without the first and will love the latter.
