Lana, it looks to me like Cannonball Press is printing the woodcuts
directly onto canvas. It looks really cool, doesn't it? Then they can
either sew up the ends and slide a couple of dowels through like
scrolls or put in grommets and fly the prints like flags! Too bad we
can't print moku hanga directly onto canvas.

Barbara, what great info you've provided on ways to mount prints onto
other materials. A question -- what's cold wax? Sounds intriguing. Is
there a brand name that everyone uses? Sorry to hear that your
workshop was cancelled, but glad you didn't have to travel in the bad
weather. Enjoy your white holidays!

Hi,
The cannonball guys are printing directly on to unsized canvas. The impression is perfectly crisp in the rough canvas - that was surprising to me. Also, the canvas prints have the edges folded over and sewn with extra material folded over on the top edge to accommodate a dowel rod so they can be hung unframed. Sort of like a curtain almost.

The super large ones (11' x 23!') are smaller pieces of printed canvas collaged onto a large piece. Not sure what kind of adhesive they used. The fact that they are collaged is not immediately apparent even standing right in front of them. Here is an example from the Cannonball site... http://cannonballpress.com/print_mhmm_treasure.html

I've been a fan of these guys for a while, but I thought these huge prints on canvas were especially innovative and impressive.

Thanks

We made it through all the snow storms to Baja, where the sky is blue,
the water is turquoise and the sand is white. All my wood block tools
were packed in my check on bag and arrived safely, including my
ceramic sharpening stone. There, I managed to get in something
woodblock!! Those who read After 5 know we went through snow in
Oregon, California and Nevada before arriving in sunny Baja. What a
weird snow year this has been. Maria, in Nevada had a special treat
when she looked out at the snow covered mountains, they were
beautiful. I hope she got pictures or drawings of this, sadly I did
not get a chance for photos. I am looking forward to our summit she
is arranging, at first I was not certain I really wanted to go. Now
I would not miss it!!! This part of the world has its own special
beauty and you will miss something special if you don't come!

Merry Christmas to all,
Marilynn

Hi Sharen,

The method I suggest is that you are dealing with the “original” and
not a facsimile....
A photocopy “Xerox“ is not comparable with the original drawing and
there for has not got the same value. ( --or you can Xerox transfer it onto 'good paper' or fabric, using
