The signup page for the Chinese New Year of the Ox is open. This will be
the ninth year that the Baren group has sponsored a New Year card
exchange. You will need to create, carve and print your image (4X6" or
thereabouts), and then send one to each participant in the exchange. In
past years this has usually worked out to about 40~50 copies. Media is not
limited to just woodblock.

Anyone wanting to participate this year please go to:

http://barenforum.org/new_year/ox.html

thanks.

HEEEEELP!

I goofed by NOT looking on the Baren Mall to see that I could have gotten a
maru bake that had ALREADY been "split".

I looked at McClain's directions for hairsplitting but came away with not a
little angst. What the hell is metal dragon skin? And by "sharkskin" does
Dave (Hi, Dave!) mean REAL sharkskin???

What have I gotten my self into? Please, someone, help me (and hopefully not
by telling me I have to BUY something more)!

Freakin' in Hayfork,
Eileen

Umm ... well ... yes.

There's a photo of one here, in an old newsletter, and a short
description:

But there are lots of other ways to soften up brushes ... I'm sure more
people will post on this!

The metal dragon skin could be liken to a metal cheese grater but much
finer,

It does a very good job and lasts a lot longer than a natural (real)
dragon skin.
For my money I would go for it.

I just answered the question regarding the metal dragon skin.

I should have looked at the original e-mail and the responded to the
concerns of Eileen.
