Thanks for the overwhelming response to look over the workshop outline. I
now have several people looking at it and should have great feedback.

I appreciate everyone's offers, I know time is a precious gift!

With that-I gotta go! Ha!

I have to say I had the most delightful time last night;

Putting corners on the exchange 37 prints

positioning them onto the scrapbook page

studying each one as I put them in their little book

and re-reading the colophon for each one after I'd put them in their
place in their little book...

I love getting print exchanges...its better than Halloween, Easter and
Christmas all rolled into one!

I'm sure that oil based printmaking inks are a different ratio of oil,
pigment & solvent of some kind. Surely Dean will jump in here soon
and give us all an education in the making of ink and the longevity/
archival qualities if it. I am concerned about the longevity of my
work if only because I want to be sure the collectors get their monies
worth. I certainly don't want anyone saying "she's a cheat and a
scoundrel and stay away from her & for god's sake don't buy her work!!"

As for adhesive: I still swear by wheat paste. It comes in powder
form, you merely spritz the back of the piece to be pasted and then
shake some wheat powder from a salt shaker (I do this over waxed paper
so I can return the excess to the shaker). I have never had a bad
experience with this adhesive or process. I cannot say the same for
the others. It is difficult to judge how much liquid (PVC) to use and
a bit to much will squish out and ruin a print, while a bit too little
can mean a less than perfect bond. I would prefer the wheat over the
denture stuff any day, if only for the reason that I know it works.
OK three reasons: it works, is archival, and is cheap.

Thank you Maria, for another wonderful exchange. I am about to go
through it for the 3rd time and catch all the little things I missed
in earlier lookies. ;-)

Cheers ~
Sharri

I believe you have something here Sharri.
Isnt this kind of paste that has been used since the year dot!

I have found that some wheat flours dont make a smooth paste. Is it
too much gluten in the flour? At any I have not found a product here
(Sidney on an Island in the Pacific ) that works.
I have resorted to Corn Starch... works greeaaaaat ....
I did manage to find some Japanese rice flour in Victoria that worked
greeaaaaat.

Have a greeaaaaat weekend

Well, I don't usually make posts about my own stuff ... just let it get
picked up by the blog notification system, but maybe this one might be
worth discussion, not sure ...

I always post images of the printing stages once each print is done,
but this time I put up a few images of _proof stages_ of the print
currently 'under construction'.
http://woodblock.com/roundtable/archives/2008/09/river_in_autumn_9.html

And the open question is ... "Stop there, or keep proofing?" :-)
