If you printed from a wooden plate.... my guess is ... woodblock print.

Go here re monoprints.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoprint
If your technique fits.... use the term.

Tibi,
I used India ink on a recent print for the black because I didn't have any
Sumi and I was hoping the shellac in it would give me a bit of a sheen (it
didn't). It gave me a nice warm black. I did have to carve two blocks though,
one for the thin lines and another for the broader black areas as I found that
when I printed the thin lines I needed light pressure and my cheap plastic
baren or I'd push the paper into the inked troughs, while to get a decent black
on my broader areas I did have to overprint two or three times and used a
better baren and more pressure. I pulled 30 prints without any appreciable loss
of detail....but it was a simple print.

Regarding smoothing blocks, I dampen the block and use a hand held cabinet
scraper (a rectangular metal 'blade') and scrape the block. It removes a
fine layer of the surface and gives a good clean smooth finish.

Just thought I'd mention it as an alternative/addition to sanding.

Robert,
It would be called a monoprint, because they would all be slightly different if you did an edition
but there is a repeatable matrix.

The solid wood blocks I get are planed by hand (or finished by myself
with a scraper blade, as Mark mentioned); the hardwood blocks from
Matsumura-san are indeed finished under a spray of water (after coming
out of the large finishing planer). He says the grit is '8000+', so I
would think this amounts to 'polishing' more than sanding, in actual
practice. They certainly come out very 'polished' in appearance ...
