Only two more days to get your name on the list for the SWNS08 exchange ...
Several years ago an international group of printmakers came together to promote mini-print exchanges at the time of the two annual solstices. We formed an on-line discussion group on Yahoo known as SSNW. Although many Bareners participate in our exchanges, our exchanges are NOT part of the Baren exchange sequence. It is now time for our next exchange, and you are invited to participate. The details are given below.

Cheers ........ Charles

Hi,

It seems my shift to a Mac and a new mail provider is causing a bit of
trouble. I have found under the format icon that I can check plain
text when I reply to each message. This is a test to see if this will
make my mail to the list legible. Sorry for the difficulties, I am
learning about my new toy.

Thanks everyone that suggested a way to achieve that texture. Now it would be time to try them and see which one works.

Tibi,
If you are printing in moku hanga I have seen this texture printed by using a piece of cloth to ink the block instead of a brush, it works well in a small area and gives a mottled texture, you have to fool around with it to get it to work consistently for you but it does work
My best to you

I must strongly disagree with wjoel on this. i do believe this to be technique not age or accident. after looking closely at this and other woodblock prints of hers "Mary and Elizabeth","The Volunteers" and "Visit to the Hospital" in particular i believe she is using an engraving tool a multiple tint tool maybe. I am not an engraver of wood or metal so i can't be sure but am 99.9% sure it is technique and not accident.

In part I may need to agree with you as she was using both lithography and woodcuts to create prints. Therefore, her woodcut technique *may* have been influenced by her work with lithographs.
