Greetings to Gayle and the Forum,
Whilst the postings are a little bleak. I'll ask one of those questions that bugs me. Do any of you 'doctor' up prints that are slightly off register or have not printed properly? Recently I have resorted to small editions of prints ( average 8 ) and if they are slightly different I 'tweak' them. One buyer actually preferred the hand drawn additions once I pointed them out adding that it was more a personal 'print' and on the other hand another bought a seriously misprinted one in preference to the edition!
Regards,
Harry

Greetings,
Harry, if some of the prints are different from the others you can call it a
Variant and have no guilty conscience, nor will the print police come after
you.
Enjoy!
All the best to you

Harry and all,
If there is one thing I know for sure after selling my
work for the last 25 years is that I don't have a clue
why people buy art. It is as individual as grains of
sand. If we could just figure it out we could quit our
day jobs and make more art.

I think you can do anything you want to the print,
curate it (clean it up and fix missregistration by
hand) draw on it, print over it, paint on it or
whatever. I used to be a purist but one day realized,
why not? So now I do whatever I want. Call it artistic
license and eccentricity of old age. It is hard to
know how far off one can be and still be an "edition"
so calling them "varied" is pretty safe. I still
number them though, sometimes you just have to follow
the rules.
My best to all,
Barbara

THAT'S exactly how i feel. I haven't done it
yet, as i'm still working on a series of wine
glasses and coffee mugs and the sort, but i think
that's one of the next steps i'll be taking,
although not for a few more years (i've gotta
finish what i've started)...

take care!
