Okay, in hind site, I realize I worded that wrong! I
was seeking feedback from Bareners on the forum, not
on blogspot. Sorry about that!

Oops! I was wrong in immersing my brush in water I
see. A few amateur questions though:

1. Should I simply dampen the bristles to get the ink
going when printing and try to avoid water contact
with the handle all together?

2. What position should I have my brushes in during
printing?

3. Is there any way of fixing the split or should I
(to use the expression we have around here in VA for a
used car that is not worth repairing and relegated to
farm use) "run 'er into the ground"?

Thanks again guys!

Hello Lee, Have you found any glycerin ? I found at the HEB drugstore a 98 grams small bottle for 2.80-3 dollars each. Have you been able to find it ? Do you use it as a retardant for water base ink?
Also if you go to the nearest border you might be able to find it. Please let me know if I can be of any help. I plan to go to the US late in may.
Best regards, Guadalupe

Hey everyone, isn't Patti amazing? It exhausts me just reading her
post! Hang in there, gal, you're almost home free -- and then the
fun begins. I hope you will enjoy teaching as much as I did and will
be doing so for a good many years :-)

Cheers ~

Patti,
I can tell you how to register these plates, cut one
that is 1/8 inch larger and make a border around the
card, they print this plate last. It will hide all the
non registered edges. A little trick from years of
mistakes.
My best to you

Lana,
I lay the brush on its side while I print and also to
dry. Many people put an I-hook in one end and hang
then to dry.
Just spray the bristles with water to start and rub on
your hand to dampen the bristles
I have seen many brushes wired at the top. Put in a
small nail, wrap wire around the nail and then around
the top of the brush, wrap the end around the nail and
pound it in all the way. Most brushes I have seen have
two or three wraps of the thin wire. I would do it
with the brush dry and if it gets wet it will swell
and tighten the wire.
Good luck

Finally.....
All my rats rode out today on the back of the
pigs...so those of you that get both will see them
arrive together....
If I missed anyone let me know as I still have a few
of each...
I am soooo glad to have this done and I truly promise
to work on the year of the steer (?) in the fall so it
will actually be on time.
My best to all.
