Still working on that Akua Kolor learning curve. This is a reductive print. I am brushing the pigment on Shina blocks and printing dry on Arches 88. I want the wood grain to show but I can't seems to get it to show consistently. In a printing run of 35, I can distinctly see the wood grain on about 7 prints. I tried less pigment, I tried more pigment. When I couldn't see the wood grain printing, I had some brush marks. I added some Extender to see if that would help. Either I didn't add enough or it didn't help. I have some Retarder. I added a little but I was afraid to add to much. The pressure was the same for all. Any thoughts?

Shina is pretty smooth with almost no grain, and when
it gets wet, after 7 or so prints, it swells up and
you will rarely see a grain in it. You need different
wood to really see wood grain consistently.

Hi all,
I thought some may find this site of interest. It's not woodblock,
but is relief using copper plates. One artist does use wood. Robert
Hardgrave's link has picts of relief details that are quite beautiful.
