I have been totally devastated by Wanda's death. Until today I could
not even write about it. She was such a dear person and will be so
terribly missed. I will never forget our wonderful time as roommates
in Edinburgh and again in Kansas City at the first Baren Forum. Last
Fall we had talked about having a slumber party, Wanda, Barbara and
I, in my studio, and then I got sick and did the hospital thing and
then the holidays, and time got away from us. We never got to have
our party, and I will always regret that, but I will keep Wanda in a
very special place in my heart. My advice is: Never put off until
tomorrow what you can do today - tomorrow may just be too late. (I
wish that were original, but alas, they are still wise words.)

Amanda,
I have used them all in my life and all work...but I
think Conrad makes an excellent press and it is better
made than either the dick blick press or the patrick.
I think it will hold up better over the long run.
Takach are the cadillac of presses, probably the best
money can buy.
my best to all

Thanks, David, for the redo on the link.

I too enjoyed your work, Lynn. And inspired too, because I've been lent
stones and a stone litho press (consumating a life long desire) that has a crank
instead of a wheel or long spokes. I'm going
to need to change that before starting. And am I close to starting, having
waited a whole year
for the press to arrive.

Thanks!

Amanda,
I have had a Conrad press for 25 years, or more, and it is still
giving me good service. They are excellent to work with and back
their product. That is important!! LOL

I also have a Griffin press. Alas I don't know its pedigree, as I bought it from another printmaker, but she had had it for a couple decades at least.

I wrote to the company and tried to get some info from the id number, but I never got a response. Too bad, I'd like to know how old it is.

It is a beauty.

I have a Faust press (the same people who make Faust ink) which I bought from Baren member Jon Gernon. It is the smaller model of the presses that they make. I have used it for solarplate etchings, monoprints and other alternative types of prints and it works great.

The pressure is set by feel, though Jon said you can purchase a device to put on the printer so that you can measure the pressure.
The site is Faustink.com.

For some reason, they no longer display the presses on their website, but I am sure if you call them that they could either send you
pictures and info or direct you to another webpage where they do have the information.
The press I have originally came without a base -- Jon sold me the press with a base that he had constructed for it.

If you have any further questions about this press, please feel free to email me offline if you like. It is very simple to use and
works great.
