Bea,

It would take me awhile to figure out if I logistically could make it
to the next summit, but I would be very interested. I felt very
remorseful that I didn't attend the last one, and I don't want to feel
that way again!

Thanks,
Angee

Probably not too many of us from Arizona, but it looks possible for me,
personally, to attend
a central CA summit. When would it be?

Another west coast summit! Would suit me fine, I think the area is very
nice Bea. I am just catching up on the list after my absence due to
traveling about over the last month. I have traveled through California
many times, usually the coastal route. This are is one of the most scenic
areas on the California coast. We have stayed where prices for a room are
double what this place is asking and it looks very nice, well kept and it
looks as if they could accomodate our group. Would there be camping in the
area available for those on lower budgets??? It is nice not to have to
price folks out. California can be spendy!

There is beautiful camping in the area but you have to make reservations, so
if we decide yes then we need to set a date and campers need to get to it.

Bea, Gilda. et al,
Asilomar looks wonderful. I would love to attend and hope one of you
will see what you could arrange for us. If that becomes too
expensive, then maybe something in LA. where some people could stay
with local members. Are their camping facilities near Asilomar?
Can't wait for another Summit!

Cheers ~

Dear Baren Council people, Barbara, Wanda, Maria, Dave, Jim, Mike, Julio,
Gayle and David Harrison, You haven t expressed your thoughts about this
venue for a Summit. What do you think? I think it may be too soon to get
it for the next Summit unless we skip a year. Bea

There is a lot in this post that I have concerns about, but the biggest
single thing is the generalizations that are made. First of all, only
some letterpress inks react as stated, but they are a very small
minority of the letterpress world, and they are fairly new to the
market. For the record we carry one of those inks, which we find
appropriate for fine artists. Traditional letterpress inks were very
similar to artists relief inks - linseed oil based.

The former dry by absorption and the more traditional dry mostly by
oxidation. The greatest concern that should be mentioned is that when
one is using commercial inks, it is imperative that the inks be
permanent - and not just commercially permanent. Commercially permanent
is defined as permanent for either 90 or 180 days (I can't remember
which).

I won't go into the usual sales pitch about using professional quality
inks, but there's a reason to use materials specifically made for the
medium.
