Subject: [Baren 34449] Intro and questions
Send Message: To this poster

An intro: I'm Linda, living in CT, an artist by interest only. I have
a long time desire to do printmaking, probably due to that 2nd grade
lino project and my father who was in the public relations/graphic art
design profession (and still is although it's all HTML now). I am also
a Mom, wife, homeowner and full time employee in the Pharmaceutical
business. Thanks for letting me lurk, I have been learning alot and you
are all inspiring. I have signed up for the New Year exchange and have
already been sketching my design, settled on a subject (rat and scene),
just gotta develop the final drawing...then on to carve/print. Anyone
participating in exchange 34 will get one of my VERY HUMBLE AND NEOPHYTE
ATTEMPTS at printmaking. Please accept it for what it is, a print from
a person who is just learning! I thank Baren for letting these
exchanges occur.

Onto questions: I have tried on several occasions clicking the "Reply:
To [Baren]" link in the HTML Baren emails and I get an error. Can we
fix this? Alternatively, I wonder if there is a possibility for
building a web based forum (eliminate email) similar to a yahoo group or
wetcanvas...I personally find web forums easier to use/negotiate for
communication and easier to reference. I always need to delete my
emails since they are delivered to my work inbox. Just a humble
opinion! I also get 2 emails for each digest, the "old" format and the
HTML format. Is there a way to just receive one?

I have perused images from past New Year exchanges, they are great! Can
I ask folks to weigh in on base material? Are most tearing down
favorite papers to the suggested 4 x 6 format or other?

thanks again, Linda

Welcome, Linda! I'm wondering if you live in my half of CT? If
so, please feel free to come up, visit the studio and talk woodblock.
That invitation extends to all. The two weekends after Thanksgiving
about 90 studios in the "Quiet Corner" (northeast CT) will host Open
Studio. If anyone is around and interested, here's the info: http://
aosct.org/

Best wishes,
Lynita

Anne, Thanks so much for your comments. Yes you have it exactly
right. They are printed in black and painted with watercolor. Ruth

Mike,
I also thought the wood grain was distracting from the
strong image.

guess you have "arrived" for sure...what a great
opportunitiy to do this
