I was just wondering how Exchange 33 was progressing; any updates would be welcome. In the last posting on Exchange 33 it was mentioned that 2 people had dropped out, meaning only 28 in the exchange. That's a shame, but will participants recieve their 2 extra prints back, as I've a couple of friends who'd like a copy, and it would save me having to do a second print run?

Dear Blog Manager,

Regarding Blog notification, I don't want to force any postings that aren't specifically Woodblock related onto Baren members, and I do really value this online group. About a third of my blog is woodblock related, a third Animation and a third Insirational Artists (Some of whom are woodblock artists). I wouldn't say it was predominently "woodblock" but I would like to continue to let members see my woodblock posts.

Should I leave the list and just send a message to Baren Forum each time I have a print related post?

Cheers, Mark.

Hi Mark,

Just an idea -- most blog software lets you categorize blog posts by category.
You can then provide the Blog Manager with the link to your "Printmaking"
category's feed (or however you name it!), rather than the feed link for your
entire blog.

In fact I'd recommend this for most people if they have a mixed-content blog.
Readers who are interested enough in a given blog can always click on other
categories later if they visit the site.

cheers,

David H

Mark,

David's idea is a good one, I have to talk to Dave Bull to see if that's
something our software will allow....the idea here is to keep 'mostly' to
woodblock content
but w/o turning anybody away.

Speaking of blogs, there are some videos of Andy Englisg (UK engraver
extraordinaire !) which I blogged from YouTube last night...take a look at

I thought the grainy look came from not enough paste
but mixing pigments well to start with (using alcohol then water)
in David Bull's instruction's I found

When paste is mixed with pigment, the print shows a clear, uniform, deep colouring. Without it, the colour on the print is likely to give a porous effect, a dry, granular texture, known as goma (sesame). As long as the colour in the brush is sufficient, the starch paste is not added. It is added only when fresh pigment is put on the brush or on the block.
hope it helps
