Annie,
Almost all of the intaglio pieces in my show (which opens Friday and
I'm not ready) have been adhered to Western print paper with a
product that is like double sided tape and ph neutral. I learned of
it from Yugi Hiratsuka who uses it in all of his work. If you are
interested let me know off line and I will look it up and tell you
where to order it. It would work perfectly for piecing work together
if you end up printing in sections.

Cheers ~
Sharri

PS
You can view the new work at www.northbankartistsgallery.com
All of my work on that site is part of the show opening on Friday

Like a lot of people I've been quiet on the forum recently, but I thought some of you out there might like to have a look at this calendar: Haiku - Japanese Art and Poetry 2008 Calendar.

Here's a link to one of the online places where it's available. http://www.allposters.co.uk/gallery.

I've got myself a copy and it's really nice. Aswell as a haiku on every page, in English and in Japanese script, there's a copy of a woodblock print by Hiroshi Yoshida. The 2007 edition which I'm using at the moment has a range of Shin Hanga Artists, including Yoshida and Hasui.

The other calendar I'd highly recommend is Japanese Woodblocks 2008, published by Cavallini & Co. It's a large format calendar, printed on slightly textured paper and each image is a beautiful reproduction of an Hiroshige landscape. http://www.calendars.com/xq/asp/PID.1/MGID.11165/IID.42117/qx/product.htm

I'm busy on my Exchange 34 print at the moment, and although I'm not signing up for #35 I'd like to suggest "Haiku" as a theme for a future exchange. Participants could produce an image based on a haiku and add the poem to the colophon, or even try carving the calligraphy. It's an exchange I'd like to be involved in, if it was held sometime next year.

England is a lovely place to live. Cecil Beaton compared it to Japan once, although he was, in part, referring to the rain. (Or liquid sunshine as I call it.)

Congratulations on your show, Sharri!

Could you tell me more about the way that you're working now to
produce these pieces? I'd love to be there to look carefully
for myself!

Best wishes,
Sharen

I vote for the story theme.
Tall Tales are always fun.

I also like the story theme. I'm game for just about anything, though I'd rather not anything political....

For those of us that got a chance to meet Michael at the Kansas City
Summit and/or remember him from his days here on the Baren forum...there
was a small note in Aine Scanell's new blog that mentions our friend.

http://ainescannell.blogspot.com/

A little googling found this book "Printmaking at the Edge" (2006) which
includes works by both Michael, Aine and other innovative artists working
today.
