The February Cairn Update

The Baren Cairn is progressing nicely!
I now have 12 blocks in my posession and looking forward to everyone's
creations.
Please get those carved and sent back to me as the deadline is only 3 months
off.
Website has been updated and I have started buying paper as the funding
comes in.

Happy carving everyone!

Reply to MaryAnn,
I have written you twice off the forum regarding your plight and apparently
you are not receiving my replies.
I have received all your emails and here are my replies:
---
Hello MaryAnn,

I will have to get the block out and see if I can make a duplicate for you.
There is no map in the size of the entire cairn, but I may be able to get
something close cut for you. I have ordered an extra block of wood and
should be here in about a week. I can then get the big block out and try to
find your piece. Even if it isn't exactly the same, I may be able to come up
with a substitute for you. Then I will trim later when all the neighboring
pieces come in.

Give me about two or three weeks and I should be able to get this to you.
Thanks,
Maria

Hola MaryAnn,

Sorry for the delay. I'm working on a couple of projects and will be able to
come up with a solution for your block pretty soon. I just have to look at
my records and the block and see where your little piece lies. Then I should
be able to cut a pretty close duplicate and send to you.

Again apologies for the delay! I will get on this pretty soon.

Regards,
Maria

The regular x-acto blades do bend. I have just ordered the set that Annie
suggested and I should have no carving excuses!
For years I've been saying to myself, "not this time" as I stubbornly stick
with shina, but the fine lines still chip, even when following the best of
instructions. With different wood and new tools I hope to see fine lines
improve and get easier.

hi folks, just wanted to say that I use the same woven shelf liner to put under the block when I am printing so it doesn't slide around.

in the US you can generally find it in Duane Reade, Rite Aid, various hardware stores etc. sorry it's so tough to locate "on the other side of the pond"!
