Hello Steffan - the printmaking journal is interesting but there
don't seem to be examples of your own work there??!!

Yes, I am slowly working towards some sort of virtual gallery of my
own stuff, so I do not have a lot of my portfolio scanned at this
time. I try to create one or two complex images a year for exchanges.
I am hoping that more involvment in the printing community will
encourage me to make more. Anyhow, here is a link to my last exchange

(The photo gallery I've linked to there has some tutorial images, to
sort of explain a few of my processes.)

Thank you for your interest!

How embarrasing! I linked to the gallery, but not the image I intended to:

I'll try again.

Terry,

I have mailed the Chinese new years card every way mentioned. One year in
envelopes, one year in cello bags and last year as a post card. For me it
depended on the paper and the size of the image. Last year I used card
stock and felt it was sturdy enough to handle the mail process. I also
wanted to have our little post office stamp them special from Nahcotta, as
usually our mail is stamped Ocean Park or Portland, not sure which. It is a
personal choice. I agree it is fun to get them stamped from all over, but
than it is fun to get them intack as well. Even though some never seem to
arrive and some come in very late it is a fun and a relaxed exchange. Just
do it your way and enjoy what others decide.
I am recovering from travel, a shellfish allergic reaction, and some sort of
virus, probably due to being over tired and run down. Old age, umphhhh. Hope
to start my piggy soon.
And joy of joys I found some beautiful paper down here to run this pig print
on, yeah yeah yeah, we are gettiing more supplies, slowly.

Happiness from sunny, windy Baja

Terry, do as you wish, everyone does! The YOTB exchange is less strict in
format than our other exchanges. Some people get their "cards" out at year's
end, others send them by the true Chinese Lunar New Year date. Some send
printed post-cards, others cards in plastic, others put them in envelopes
for obvious reasons such as thinner paper. Everyone does as they wish. Size
is also a bit more flexible and some, me included, started sending slightly
larger prints.

Have fun with it and do what you want.

Maria, "enjoying" the New Year today by working on paying appropriate sales
taxes for 2006 to every state on the West Coast (sigh)

A big Baren welcome to Rahman, Wendy and Steffan.....I visited the links
provided and the works are outstanding...congratulations and is great to
have you guys join the Baren community....there has always been a great
crosslink of members at Baren with other printmaking communities like WEN
(Wood Engravers Network), Print Australia, American Print Alliance and
others.

Wendy...there are links in April Vollmer's site to her trip to Germany and
meeting up with Eva...teaching a class at their studio I remember...also
here is another from the 2005 IMPACT show in Berlin:

Now that I have a little break from the formal exchanges I am working hard
to get my pigs out to 'market'....the 2006 dog cards are finally done and
if you
are/were in both the 2006 & 2007 exchanges you may get both of mine in one
envelope by month's end...so sorry to everyone for this delay...

thanks....Julio Rodriguez (Skokie, Illinois)

Thanks,Steffan - I'd already zeroed in on your 'crow raiding' from
the previous link - really nice work and now you see other
Baren members appreciating it
I add a 'welcome!'

Barbara, Diane, Maria, Marilyn and others -
Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of sending them in the cell bags, like the gorgeous one from Monica just arrived in. I know I've seen those bags for sale somewhere, but it's not coming to mind right off. I'll google it.
I've been saving the envelopes with postmarks and stamps, they all come in and I'm mounting it all with the postcard in a binder to further cherish them in.
My husband loves running out to the mail to see what exotic place this beautiful artwork is coming from.
Thank you all for such a fun time!
