Thank you those at the summit who encouraged me to leave those edges on my
block with the tree, I ran some yesterday and it worked!!!!! Also for those
who knew I was looking about for my little knife, it turned up in my other
bag, so it was a good day!

Lynita, wow -- sixty three woodcuts! I guess you *have* been framing!
Congratulations on the U-Conn show. I enjoyed seeing your quilt prints on
your web site and hope to get to Connecticut to see them in person at the
show.

Best,
Annie

That sounds great Lynita. I love your "Something Fishy" fishies. Very
sweet. I love your technique. The whole quilting theme is great.

How many times do you print a block?

Thanks . . . actually those fish look like they've had a bit too
many "bubblies" . . . or was it their creator? ; - )
I generally make from 150 -200 prints for each quilt. Most of the
prints have four to six blocks. I usually print them during art
festivals or whenever I'm demonstrating as it isn't so painful if I
mess up a 2"x2" piece. I change the colors after every 10 - 20
prints so I can have the variation appear. Although there's a lot of
planning involved, each time I start arranging the 100 prints (like
puzzle pieces) the work has taken on its own life and the final
outcome has always turned out differently that what I had in mind.
Very fun!

Annie, tell me if and when you come down so we can meet (and you can
bring your fabulous new series to show me).

Best wishes,
Lynita

Well, the show went up, the opening was last Friday and it was. WOW!

I've posted a few photos and a short movie waiting for and then walking
through the exhibition which you might enjoy seeing here:
http://mlyon.com/blog/2006/09/gallery-walk-through-mike-lyon-large.html
kinda a hoot, I think.

Highlights of opening day - a good number of my prints and drawings sold
very quickly including the big "Jon" drawing to the Daum Museum of
Contemporary Art and the big "Sarah" drawing to the Kemper Museum of Art -
both are wonderful regional contemporary art museums and quite obviously
have great eyes! :-) (LOL with glee)!

I'm on cloud 9!

Hi Lynita -

Congratulations on your v.interesting and enjoyable work - I'd love
to see one of the 2"x2" blocks that make up the 'quilts'
added to your explanations.

all best wishes,
