Harry as usual I really enjoyed your work. The one you returned to with the
ink pen has very interesting perspective. Makes me want to find a piece I
drew from Todos Santos a few years back that was a section of architecture.
Here in the states we just do not have the old buildings as much as you do.
down here I find some vryinteresting buildings. You are inspiring me to set
out and do more acrchitectual draings.

I should add that, as a result of that Berkeley caper, the Berkeley people took over the printmaking organization and kicked me off the board. However, my old printmaking women's group member calls me up occasionally for advice on how to run it. She seems to follow me around, chasing me out of the printmaking groups that I belong to. I was in a women's woodcutting group before she joined it, but I dropped out because she brought her dog to the Sunday night meetings. She was offended when I complained about her dog. So I quit. Maybe I should have hung in there.

One of that women's group members got a job teaching drawing at the junior college right near where I live, that I went to for 30 years. I am still out of work, still just trying to get a job as a lowly subtitute person with an M.A in Creativity and Arts Education from San Francisco State University. She became president of the printmaking society and kicked me off the board. I guess that's just the kind of person she is, a gorilla kind of a person. There's no room for love in that world. That's what it's like living in the shadow of an Ivy League University. Nothing and nobody is good enough for them. I got a master's degree from San Francisco State but that's not good enough for them. I am not sure what it is about me that they don't like. I guess it's that I talk too much. I should just shut up and not complain so much.

One usually joins a professional group of artists and does service for the organization as a way of improving one's knowledge and abilities and perhaps getting a recommendation from their peers. But that printmaking group in the hands of Berkeley leaders, acts like it has its members in a jail cell and they are doing community service work for some criminal act or parking violation and when you ask for a job recommendation, the education director wrote me a letter saying I was crazy. What was that for, that CSP annual show in Berkeley where they had a nude being printed, for God's sake? It's not as if they had someone doing a sex act on the floor. They didn't do that. The woman was just naked. They have naked models in drawing classes at UC Berkeley or they don't get college accreditation. The education director was writing letters knocking me long before that happened. I don't want her job. I never asked for her job. But I sure don't want to work for someone who is going to knock me for volunteering for a 501C3, when I go to find a real paying job. Somebody ought to find out what her problem is. What's REALLY behind all that negativity. Someone told me that she had breast cancer. Maybe that's what made her write negative letters about people who put hours and hours of volunteer time into that organization. Someone should give her a Thesaurus with words that you can use to praise a colleague for a job well done as her goodbye gift to that board of directors for her long service to that organization.

I would like you to know that I wrote the recommendation--the guidelines--for their professional journal that kept that journal up and running after the editor and fund raiser quit. Even though my MA advisor told me it wouldn't work, they did it and it worked. They did it because I ran a newspaper for 12 years and I knew what I was talking about. You don't last 12 years in publishing a newspaper if you aren't an honest person. You don't last three years substitute teaching if you don't like kids and they don't like you. The CSP still has a professional journal. I just thought you'd like to know what has happened to the Calfornia Society of Printmakers, which is having its annual meeting this Saturday in Berkeley.

Most of the people watching that woman being body printed at that Berkeley California Society of Printmakers reception were in their 80's, for God's sake.

One young person who looked like he might be under 21 came up and asked for a drink and I asked to see his ID, which he either could not or did not want to show me. So I didn't serve him.

It goes on year after year after year, harssment and more harassment. It makes me not even want to go to a CSP reception anymore. In fact, the CSP annual meetings which used to be very large when they had the college professors running it, have shrunk down to just a few people. I think that's terrorism to do that to me, to put me in a reception and put a bottle of wine in my hand and then tell me its against Berkeley regulations. What did they want me to do, pour the wine out on to the floor? What did they bring cases of wine for, if they knew it was against Berkeley regulations?

You should have gotten a bigger dog-- one with a mean streak -- and let her be the one to leave the group!

I received 2 dog prints from Claude Villeneuve. I can forward one of
the envelopes on. Can't find an email for you, Claude. Let me know
what to do with the second one.

hi folks-
Harry, love the print and the drawing/print that you just posted, especially the print in the rain. Online that print looks like a hanga print, but from your webpage I see it's an "oily" print. very nice.

also, I just received my "Mythical Beasts" prints and THANK YOU to all! my crazy little beast, "Chucho El Magnifico" is mighty pleased to be in such great company. Thank you to all and of course especially to Bea, our fearless coordinator, for all your hard work.

all the best,
Sarah
