For any of you who can make it to Philadelphia on Sunday, December
4th...the Philadelphia Print Collaborative will celebrate the art of the
woodcut at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It will be a full day of
printmaking activities around the art of the woodcut and its all free
with museum admission.

* Workshops
* Demonstrations
* Gallery Talk - about the woodcuts by Edvard Munch in the current
exhibition called /Mermaid /(there are many prints that are
included in this exhibition)
* a documentary by Mike Houston of Cannonball Press called _/Chuck
Makes a Woodcut/_ (its hilarious)

It should be a great day, come see us. And, we are still looking for
volunteers for activities - so drop me a line
cperkins@printcollaborative.org if you are interested.
The full list of activities is on our website www.printcollaborative.org
and it will be updated on an ongoing basis until the event. You will
also find information about Big Block exhibitions and a portfolio
exchange...

I hope you can make it!

The Christmas book that I illustrated with wood engravings and woodcuts is
out:

www.laughingcrowstudio.com

click on the book icon to take you to Amazon Books. It is exciting to see
it in print - they did a beautiful design job on it. Of course, I look at
it and see everything that I would do differently if I would have had a
more reasonable deadline and more creative freedom, but overall, it is a
nice product.

Oh, Lezle~ Your book is so beautiful. You should be so proud. May I ask how
long it took for you too illustrate? I estimate 3-6 months for images that
will be watercolor gouache. (17-20 images)

Thank you for sharing!

I agree re entry form-- it took forever to print out! And, by the way, it
says open to U.S. residents -I assume this means restricted to U.S.
residents?? a pity

I agree some more, again and again :)

When you see something like this, it just qualifies as a treasure. I
see awards in your future!

Really great Lezle. I love the dark backgrounds on all the images. So
dramatic. The cover is magical.

Ok! I've finally finished my reduction block print. 8-] You can see it at the blog link:

It's been a scary experience, carving away a little more of the image each time. But I like the outcome.
