Thanks Mike and Tom for answering my question.

The prints I sometimes
buy on ebay are inspirational to me and I buy only what I can afford. I
am atrying to make a small collection of mine and learn by looking at
those prints.
The ones I bought apear to me as real ones as i looked at
the back and the colour went through it - that was the only thing I
knew about original vs mechanical printing... however I was concerned
with restrikes, which means I wonder how it is possible to understand
whether a woodblock has been used once for the first batch of
impressions or if this woodblock was reused many years later ro produce
a second edition of that same print.
Any hint? Certainly I can only
guess that if I had 2 same prints, one original and one restrike I
could definitely see from the wear of the block which came first... but
if I only have a print... is there a way to guess?

Thanks
Colleen

This may be of interest to [Baren] members - offering a quite unique
way to market their work.

http://www.etsy.com/color.php

As they describe it ... "Etsy is an online marketplace for buying and
selling all things handmade. Etsy lets you shop by color, place, time
and material."

Hello John,

This is the second time I have posted other than
saying "hello" last May. My prints will be dry by
Thursday. I will sign and number them and they will be
sent on Saturday, Oct. 29. It has been a challenge.
The first edition I did was relief and gum transfer
(an edition of four). This print had three plates
(linocut) in an edition of approx. 38.

I finally got this done despite organizing our next
exhibition, an international juried exhibition. Check
out for news on the opening on Nov.
4, continuing through Jan. 17, 2006. Also look for
news of our relief exhibition, Spring 2006.

Thanks for the opportunity to the Baren group! Look
me up in Ithaca, NY.

Jae Sullivan
