I buy refillable plastic tubes with a screw-on cap at camping supply stores
... made for margarine, peanut butter, and similar stuff ... they are made
to be filled from the rear and then rolled up, folded over, and sealed with
a little plastic thingie. I put the ink from the cans in the plastic tubes.
That way you get the bulk price of the can but the convenience of the tube.
Just squeeze out what you need ... be sure to squeeze out any air before
you re-cap the tube. Bit messy when filling the tubes, but just wear gloves
and use a putty knife or something similar. Easy ......

Cheers ...... Charles

Here's a chance to view HUNDREDS of woodcuts from the collection of the
late Robert Muller -- these are not Japanese artists (of which he was such
a well known collector), but are all by Western artists -- although quite a
number had been trained in Japan... Many astounding prints to be auctioned
May 25, so I imagine that these pages won't be available more than a few
weeks -- be sure to have a look:

Thanks Mike! WOW! Beautifu;l...
if you're like me you have bought an extra drive at some point just to
hold all the lovely images you wish you could buy but can't afford- at
least the net lets us see and study them. This is quite a treasure
trove.

Send Message: To this poster

I looked in the Encyclopedia but didnšt come up with an answer for this. Išm
looking for suggestions.

I printed up my Exchange #24 edition in a smaller amount because I had to
get them done. I want to do more later but I suspect it will be on a
different paper. I know the color will be slightly different, it will have
some alterations in the blocks, too. I do want to title it the same.

Do I need to designate that this is state #2, and if so, how do I mark that
on the print?

1/50 2nd state, 2/50 2nd state and so on or you can give them roman numerals 1/XXXX and so on and write 2nd state on the back...I think you can always write stuff on the back for future collectors, maybe that the first state was printed for an exchange on so and so paper and this state was printed with 50 prints on such and such paper.
This seems logical to me.
best to all,

Editioning questionI think if you did alterations
in the blocks that means that
the print is not more
the same.
So you can make
a new edition . And you don't
have even to mention state "2".

I think state is when your doing
the print, cutting - and then
you go printing as SP (state proof).

And even those in my point of view
perhaps could be seen as a new one.

I am a great admirer of your work
I recognize when a print is
from artist Tyrus Clutter.

Forgive me for giving answers
when it's me that have to do questions.

After ordering and receiving a can of red ink for my 911 print I started to order all oil based ink in tubes. It was a large can and the very first time I used it I had dried globs of ink on my plate , in my roller, etc. I did complain to the manufacturer, to no avail. Therefore I stopped ordering from them and decided to order only in tubes from Daniel Smith. (no relative of mine, but wish he was since I might get goodies for free) Problem solved, no wasted skim on the top of my ink. I am very pleased, but guess if you use a lot of ink you might need to have the large tins, in which case i hope you never get one that is bad or if you do that at least the manufacturer responds to your complaint.
Thanks again Maria, I will use gel or vaseline on the lids of all my oil based products!

Thanks, Mike - I've just spent hours viewing all these prints (instead of
working- but what fun!) having just acquired a new printer had to print out
a few of the ones I liked - did everyone notice how many 'edition not
stated' comments there were and what does 'Cold' woodcut signify??

Belated congratulations on your recent achievements, Mike - do hope to meet
you and learn much next year!

> ... what does 'Cold' woodcut signify??
It's their abbreviation for 'coloured' ...

Certainly is a wonderful selection ... too bad it's being broken up. I
just used this program:
http://www.pagesucker.com
... to scoop a replica of the set of pages down to my own machine, for
future reference.

Thanks for the link, Mike!

I was wondering that too - but after looking at about 50, realized it
was an abreviation for "colored"!

So many great prints, thanks Mike!

Hi all,
I've been trying to unsubscribe from this list (no offence, I
joined to chase some info on glues, and now need to get off.)
The majordomo won't understand me, and the moderator's address doesn't work.
Any suggestions.
