You might also want to take a look at Color Bytes by Jean Bourges. It's
a little technical, and obviously aimed at electronic media, but it's
very good. Just happens to be available, as most products are, from my
favorite supply house.

There are a couple of excellent books on the artistic use of color by Faber Birren.

I second Charles' recommendation! There is a newer Second Edition of the
book with much additional information, but I got plenty of good from the
original version.

Take care,

Dan ,
for the best about color theory Joseph Albers. It is a bit of an advance
level, and maybe out of print. He taught at Yale. I just studied with one of
his students.. there are also color-rite(I think)cards available thru many
arts store (or Dick Blick) that has packs of cards you can 'play' around
with combinations.

Just a note to let those of you who have signed up for Exchange 25 since
April 8 that I am away from home and studio (while teaching a 5-day
Japanese printmaking workshop at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in
Norwalk, CT) and will update the exchange pages when I return home April
18... Please know that I _am_ receiving your sign-ups and that I
appreciate your patience!

And, while I'm posting... The CCP has the most WONDERFUL exhibition of
miniature prints on display -- hundreds of beautiful (and tiny) prints from
all over the world -- if at all possible, this is an important show and
well worth your attention!

In a nutshell, what is the best book for color theory w/ examples?

I am presently reading Betty Edwards' _Color_, which is certainly
entertaining and very well written. She wrote the _Drawing on the Right
Side of the Brain_ books. She includes learning exercises. Cannot say it
is_the_best book on color as I am not a critic, but definitely would
recommend it. You may already know it all anyway, but she at least presents
an interesting spin and, to me, a fresh view.
