< He recommended Arches 90 lb. hot press (smoothest surface) >
Is this a watercolor paper? Gads I have tons of knowledge of that stuff and
tons of it. Has anyone tried 140 lb, or is it too heavy? Fabriano also
makes a nice lightweight smooth paper. Their rough is actally almost as
smooth as arches smooth and the smooth is very fine. Does the western
watercolor paper than have better sizing for accepting our water based inks?
And what about 140 lb regular rather than the rough. Oh gads now i will
be pullng out scraps of paper and experimenting like mad. We should keep
one another informed as to how these various papers work.

Who organized this tremendous and wonderful collection for the Internet?!

THANK YOU AND GREAT

I won't tell you how many images I viewed--most seen before and enjoyed
again but hundreds never seen. A revelation.
Someone might ask haven't you anything better to do? And I won't answer
that.

What a group.

Eva,

I have been using Fabriano Artistico 200gsm for years now and love it
for both hanga and oil based printing. I always wet it the night
before I am going to use it and keep it moist - cold to the touch but
not soggy wet. If there are droplets of water on it it is too wet.
Blotting it then with blotting paper may be sufficient. But I have
just finished a three block, four colour, 10 printings to get the
saturation of bright colour of yellow, red and purple on it and it is
fine.

Best of luck,

Jan

Please HELP!

I have a problem with my ball-bearing baren. Although I have kept it on a
pad with camomile oil the bearings no longer turn. I marked some with a Sharpie
and can tell that I can just about budge them with the pressure of a thumb.

Any suggestions?
