Congratulations, Charles! Santa Barbara has a lovely museum - I saw the
Janus collection and my first Monet water lilies in person there many
years ago. My daughter is a grad of UCSB, so I used to spend a bit of
time there visiting her. We still have friends there, but haven't
visited for years, it isn't as easy since we moved to the Northwest :-)

Cheers!

Hello Friends,

I just thought I'd let you know (for those interested in letterpress things
by association with me or practice in the craft) that tonight's show on ABC of
Extreme Home Makeover features a budding graphic designer who will receive
(among other things such as a computer) her own letterpress and type and supplies
to get her going in the black art of letterpress.

I have donated some spacing material and a cool font of ATF Shadow to the
cause.
We are hoping to see some of the setup on the air, but it could be
potentially very brief, considering editing practices. There will also be another chance
to see what makes it to air if you watch Monday night's "How Do They Do It?"
of Extreme Makeover.

So that's:

SUNDAY 1/9 7pm CST on ABC Extreme Makeover:Home Edition

MONDAY 1/10 7pm CST on ABC "How Do They Do It?" Special to Extreme Makeover
Home Edition

Also, some credits and a link to David S. Rose's Introduction to Letterpress
will be posted on the show website ://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/

I hope you get a chance to check it out.

All the best and I hope the New Year brings much joy and progress to your
lives.

Well, 20 minutes of screaming, 19 minutes of tears, 20.25 minutes of ads
and -- ah, at last-- .75 minutes of printing press. Still, it was a truly
impressive feat, building that big, fully equipped house in one week!

wrong kind of press for that type of printing. Not enough pressure for
large wood type. But it was nice to see wood type and a c & p table top press.
They could cut the smultz in half and it would still be a good show -- too
over the top for me.
