Reply to "Tom" of 25378 "Saito and woodgrain".
I very much enjoyed viewing some of the images of Saito.
To answer your question about how he achieved those lovely textures , one of
the links mentioned that he used many different kinds of wood.
One of my favorites is luan, difficult to carve details but nice for solid
effects.

My LPE-2 arrived today.....thanks Sharii for all the coordinating, mailing
and hard work.........and thanks to all the participants for a wonderful
set of prints. It is always enlightening and humbling to see the
challenges we face when doing large scale prints ;-)

I already have a few favorites in the set.

thanks.......Julio Rodriguez (Skokie, Illinois)

Sharri,

Thanks for the information. Seems the fight on terrorism has caught another Portland lawyer and Army Chaplain ...... Has that joint task force caught anyone recently that they haven't had to let go ??? But only after royally screwing their lives up!

Hi there :-) What say we have a My Goverment; right or
wrong! exchange? Make it 32 prints, with the extra
going to sale for legal fees. Prase or damn, everybody
gets to vent politic onto a willing block of wood.

Dear fellows,
I am trying to get information about woodblock courses or
workshops in japan. I am applying for a scholarship from the japanese
foundation, and for that I need an institution to receive me in japan.
Does anybody would have any hint about it or any contacts or links to help me?

Thank you!

Remember when you talk about politics or problems in the United States on
this forum that we have many members who are not citizens of the United
States. They may not want to do prints about our government or politics.

Send Message: To this poster

The Baren Mall is pleased to announce the addition of paper from Iwano-san, (a national treasure of Japan)

See the page here....http://barenforum.org/mall/products/iwano_hosho.html

The paper is in Oregon, USA, awaiting your order to try it. It is a bit larger than the Yamaguchi paper so should lend itself to better sizes when tearing it up for our editions.

We are delighted to be able to bring you this special offering. As usual the mall is making a very tiny markup on this paper, so you will be able to purchase it retail for this unheard of price. You would have to buy 500 sheets from Iwano-san to get this price, if he would sell it to you. He takes very few new customers and our connection to David Bull has made this happen for us.Your previous support of the mall and the small precentage we make on orders has allowed us to do buy this paper and we thank you. Together we are making paper and tools available around the world at a very affordable price for printmakers.

I am off to the post office to see if I can get some triangular shaped boxes that will be large enough to ship in. I am very protective of the paper and I am sure that all who have ordered the Yamaguchi paper appreciate the extra effort in the packaging! I believe in bubble wrap, even for paper!

Best to all,

Barbara Mason, Mall Manager

Hi there: The idea is for each artist to express an
opinion about their own goverment. Cheers, Eli
