Darrell,
I have been having some physical problems with a wierd case of arthritis that will hopefully go away. I am almost done, but will probably be a couple of days late. I shipped the cases all to Mike, forgetting I needed to send some to you. There are about 10 so will be 4 left if anyone contacts you about having one. Mike will send them on to you as soon as he returns home from the east coast.
Best to you,

Barbara

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to publicly thank everyone who participated in the big (BIG)
calendar project. I have a set of each in my proud possession - and believe
me, if there are any sets left, you'd better snap them up. So much
diversity, & so much beauty. Everyone really outdid themselves with their
prints in these collections. There is a surprise for every month of the
year, and the prints would be a valuable collection for anyone. Thanks so
much to all of you & a big thank you to Julio Rodriquez (who always gets
himself in over his head) for thinking it up & getting them all out. I am
just thrilled with each one.

I (for one) hope we can do this again next year. But, let's start early
this time! Like right now?

Hi everybody,
I have a book on exhibit in the following show, and although it has nothing
to do with printmaking, the show might be of interest to those who can
attend at either venue. (The show will be at the Lovejoy Library, Southern
Illinois University at Edwardsville for the month of July, 2004).

Georga,
Before anyone can sign up we need one or more people to volunteer to do the coodination. Julio can give pointers but he really needs to take a year off from this stuff. We cannot do it again unless someone else or some group of several people who live close to each other want to oversee it.
Best to all,

Marilyn,
I have used myrtlewood quite a bit in making
furniture, even though it is fairly soft. It is easy
to work and I love how it finishes. I think that the
following applies to printing as well. I buy rough
planks and sand it with successively finer sand paper
going from 80 grit to 300. Then I wax it with a mix of
beeswax/carnuba/tung-oil and polish it by hand. This
surface after a dry time will hold ink well on top,
allowing some into the grain, but the grain is fine
and colored and shows up better in furniture than in
printing. A sharp parting tool will give fine lines
and for oil based ink a crisp print. The more you ink
it and print the block the smoother the wood surface
gets.
let me know.
