HI!

This is a great exchange.... outstanding and varied work! Can hardly wait till you all see it .... though I probably won't be able to get it in the mail to you until the first of next week.

I'm missing a lot of information for the collophon. Would the following please sent that info to me off list? e-mail b.patera@att.net

Julia Ayers - Robert Stone - John Center - David Mohallatee - Jean Eger - Julie Sparks - Barbara Mason - Gail Ayers - Margaret Szvetecz - Georgia Garside - Dan Dew - John Furr - Murilo P. - Mellissa R Devine - Mike Lyon-Kris Adler - Raylene Johnston - Jan Telfer - Claude Aimee V.

If I don't get the information by this Friday will wing it. That means names only in the collophon. :-)

Regards,

Barbara Patera

Hi there:

Looking at the encyclopedia for hints for Japanese
pigments, I wrote down Ai-iro, Gunjo, Shu, Hon yo ko,
bengara(?), Seki-wo and Shin-seki ei.

Who can tell me which of the Baren Mall selection
numbers match which pigment?

As we use so many Japanese terms on this forum, can we
have a page put up where the pigments for sale are
named, not just numbered?

English names and pigment id numbers (ie. py 37,
cadmium sulfide yellow or py 37:1 cadmium lithopone
yellow) would also be nice too.

Beyond toxic handling and lightfast considerations, it
is always reassuring to know just what sort of raw
materials we are working with.

It also makes that heavy metal buzz a bit less
mystifying ;)

Has anyone used Kramer Pigments pigments for hanga?
If so, what worked and what didn't?

On a different, non-woodcut topic, has anyone
upgraded their mac to OS X. (or moved to a pc) and has
an OS 9. disk they no longer need?

I received the wrong disk set for my machine(s) and
they are getting to be a little odd.

If so, let me know, off forum, and maybe we can work
out a deal.

Cheers,
Eli

Closest matches would be (using Mall numbers):
39: yo-ko (kind of carmine)
15: ai (indigo)
12: gunjo (ultramarine?)
3: shu (or 35, or 56) (vermillion)
(58): seki-ei ('yellow')

There is no 'bengara' (like a brick red) in the list, and there will
never be a 'seki-wo' there (50% sulphur/50% arsenic).

Not sure if it would be useful ... the names are mostly fanciful:
41: 'grass green'
47: 'beautiful green'
38: 'yellow green'

We thought it made more sense just to give you the colour swatches,
rather than use translated names. WYSIWYG ....

According to my anti-virus software Ritchie from seanet contained an
attachment with a virus... I would be careful opening it...

I have a simple but effective rule of thumb: if it is from Baren and
has an attachment, I do not open it. period.
