Dean,
The question was how do etching/relief oil based inks differ from oil paints so that they do not adversely affect the material they are used on. We are all warned to gesso canvas to keep the oil based pigments from destroying the canvas and someone wanted to know why printmaking oil based inks do not eventually destroy paper.
So, resident expert: what's the answer?
