Frank, I will have to run to my po box to pick up the monkeys print people are talking about - but the funny thing is that I did a number of preliminary drawings to get ideas for my print, and funnily enough I did a series of them incorporating a barrel of monkeys monkey who's been living in my studio for many years - and I was trying to decide between one of these images and another totally different monkey idea, and I had actually just decided to leave the barrel of monkeys pictures just as a series of drawings and to go with another idea for my postcard. - what do they say, great minds think alike :)
I'll be interested to see what you came up with
best wishes

Tired but undeterred, Maria returns from the road, blankets the horses,
dusts off her boots and...WHAAAAAT!??? Two pieces of the puzzle still
missing??? How can this be? :-)

That's it folks! Only two pieces left and the puzzle will be complete!
Not bad, only three drops and two subs immediately jumped in to fill in;
both those blocks already carved and waiting for me to goop them up.

I have settled on a paper decision, probably Stonehenge Cream, since it
provides a shinning background for pure black ink but remains one of the
more inexpensive choices. I will order from Graphic this week. I will be
printing in January, possibly with the help of master printer Barbara
Mason, who is coming down all the way from Oregonia, date yet to be
decided. Everyone should expect their prints somewhere around early
February, 2004.
Monumental Collaborative Puzzle Print #2 will get underway sometime next
summer during one of those lulls when I get bored ;-)

On another note, I met not one, not two but three woodcut/relief
printmakers "out there" this season. None of them were in Baren, so I
set them straight about where the woodcut action is happening in the
wide world.

Maria, jus' monkeying around...

Heck no! That's why Barbara is coming, she's bringing extra barens,
aren't you Barbara? :-)

But seriously, I do have a press, an original Dan Patrick 24 x 36"
etching press, now Thomas Press http://www.thomaspresses.com/index.php ,
although I don't see the presses with the stand anymore. The price is
right and this is a fine, solid machine. Maybe better wait until the
almighty sputtering merrican dollar revs up a little again to get your
money's worth.
I made the puzzle blocks so that they will just (and I mean JUST) fit on
the bed, both width- and length-wise.

Can't wait! I will be updating the puzzle web site with the latest
arrivals one of these days...right now I'm napping heartily, perhaps
taking as many as 12-15 naps per day, I don't want to overdo it.

Maria...resting from a long peddlin' season
