Frank Trueba, you are setting the bar high and higher! Your monkey
card is wonderful. Imagine my surprise when I discovered, on the
floor, the little Barrel of Monkeys monkey. It had fallen out while I
was reading all that wonderful history on the back of the card. It was
twice as much fun finding it the way I did. Anyway, fantastic job, but
how DID you manage that when I am still slogging my way through my
Christmas cards & letter? It must be all that wonderful Santa Cruz
sunlight. I haven't given monkeys hardly a thought, yet. That is my
first January project....or that is the current plan, anyway.

Cheers,
Sharri

Yes, Frank has started the barrel rolling with loads of fun! He has
unleashed the printmaking monkeys!

Very clever Frank and a very nice print indeed. The history was
interesting and getting a surprise made me feel like a kid again.

Hey, send me some of that Santa Cruz sunlight! No snow here in KY, but
too chilly for these bones. I want to go see Jeanne 'now'!

Hello,

I just joined, so hey all ;) Im just getting started in wood engraving, I
have been doing linocuts on and off for several years now, but always
preferred a more precise medium, so I have taken the plunge...

Question > does anyone know a Canadian retailer (online or not) who sell
Resingrave? The only links I find online for buying it are either US or UK
based, and I would love to avoid paying duty everytime I want a board ;)

Any help would be much appreciated,

Bryon

Bryon,

I have looked everywhere in Canada and have yet to find a domestic supplier
of Resingrave in Canada. However there is no duty on most art supplies imported
from the US into Canada, just GST and you have to pay that here too.

Also, I have tried resingrave and resingrave 2 and I find both of them
inferior to woodblocks. As I learned you can also use corian or other solid surface
material which you can find anywhere in Canada. I got some cut offs from a
counter manufacturer for free. It cuts cleaner than resingrave, and I find it
cuts as easily although I have heard it is harder. If you hand pull prints
thickness of the corian doesnt matter but it can be mounted on MDF board or
hardboard to make it type high for printing on proofing press.

You might want to try real wood, there is a gentleman making boards in Canada
which shouod be at a reasonable price, you can contact him through his
daughter on the woodengravers network forum:

Her name is Emma jane. I think she reads Baren too, but I am not 100%
positive.

Hi Frank Trueba -

I'm adding my praise for and delight at receiving your monkey card today!
The tiny one fell out on my table and it's now happily perched on the edge
of the card.

I must add that I'm quite pleased that the woodcuts are selling at my
current show here in TO - unfortunately the prints can't fetch the prices
that oils do.(Emma Hogbin - what happened to you?? was expecting to meet
you at the opening)

To Steve Goddard - Westermann's "Connecticut Ballroom Suite looks great but
only one (with the title) appeared when I went to the link - is there
another address - I'd like to see more.

Ciao

I know, I'm horrible. :( I thought it was an evening opening. I had the
invite stapled to my calendar and then didn't look at it until 6pm as I
was heading out the door to come and see you.
