I just finished putting the finishing touches on the Full-Page calendars
and let me congratulate the participants on a
very fine group of prints. Not sure if is the mix of text and images on
paper or what but these are all very exciting....the small images up on
the calendar web page don't do justice to the actual 7.5" X 10" prints. As
it is with our medium, paper selection and paper texture play such a
critical role on the success of our work and having the opportunity to
collate five different sets of prints has been very instructional and eye
opening !

Thank you for all the orders that came in during the weekend, more than
half the calendar inventory is already gone....with "Landscapes" turning
out to be the most popular type....only eight copies remain available so
if you are thinking about ordering......don't think too long.....just go
and place an order before they are all spoken for !

thanks again for all your support with this our very first barenforum.org
fundraiser.......

Julio,

The thanks are to you, for suggesting the project,
for arranging for its various components, and for collating
a whole lot of prints. And let's not forget Barbara Mason
and David Bull for their parts in this enormous undertaking.

Having finally found the time to scan the image for the HTML pages I
have to tell any of you who may be reluctant to upload your image - it
is a piece of cake. I wish everything in life were that easy! Even I
could understand this one.

Last year must have been harder on me than I realized. In looking at
the calendar pages I see that I was the only one who did a Full Page
submission and couldn't understand the directions. Therefore, I have
no choice but to deduce that it was me and not the instructions. The
present quandary is how to rectify my mistake. Any really quick and
clever ideas on how I can make myself presentable in the eyes of my
peers after this gaff? The funny thing is that my first design did
incorporate all the days and then I re-read the directions and for some
strange reason decided that "text" meant only the title of the month
and not the "numerals". That's what I get for being so literal.

I could make a small circle with the information on it, run it off
quickly and send it to Julio - asap, but it would mean more work for
him and a hold up of a good 2 weeks. Or we could include a note that
if you want the rest of August, contact - - - -, or we could ignore it
and consider her a little weak in the head.

Suggestions?

Hi all,

I'm ordering one of the ball bearing barens from the Baren Mall , have
decided that the fine rather than the coarse would be best for my printing;
but am wondering whether I should get a smooth running one or a stiff
running one. I found what is probably the same baren in the McClain catalog
and they have cushioned (to keep the bearings from rattling while using) and
uncushioned.... the cushioned ones I assume being the same as the "stiff"
ones.

I used Marco's at the summit and liked it, don't remember it rattling and it
seemed to run smoothly. Any comments from users of either kind would be
appreciated.

Thanks.

If you look carefully, you'll see that you weren't the only one. There are
a few. In my case, I had indicated the days of the month only
symbolically. Also, I chose to symbolize September by Virgo. But as we
all know, the constellations of the Zodiac don't coincide precisely with
months. After I finished, I thought to myself, hmmm, maybe I'm doubly in
default here. So, to be on the safe side, I made a translucent overlay on a
lightweight japanese paper called sekishu, on which I printed the calendar
for September so as to work with the design showing through from
underneath. So my "page" is actually two pages.
