Hi Georga..most of the asphlatum transfers to the copper plate and the
remaining residue I wipe off right after printing on the copper and then
wipe the block with a bit of turpentine on a rag...I print only with oil
based ink so I can see no change from printing with oil ink...this may
affect a block that you print with water based ink, but since this has been
an experiment for me I can tell you that it works with wood blocks and
linolum blocks...I put the copper plate on the floor and place the relief
block on the copper and step on it...it may take several tries to get a good
transfere (cleaning both plates and starting over) and it will still be a
bit of an abstraction from the original as copper is not paper..remember
this is an experimental procdure and I trashed several copper plates trying
to get the right depth for the etch.

Hi,
Happy Thanksgiving to All. I hope you have many things to be thankful for!

Thinking about recent e-mails about lefties---

How about an Exchange: "Lefties Can Carve"?
Birds of a Feather... -- are you game? Ouch!

I would be the first to volunteer to coordinate for next year.

Yes, I was the one who said "Aren't you putting the horse before the cart?",
related to the sequence of steps for a woodblock .Oops. I take that back: I
misspoke!

It's good to be back. Thank you to all with your kind comments. I hope to
be a more active participant... if only I could catch up on my Baren email!
I'm still on Friday's. Is anyone particpating in Southern Graphics this
coming up year? How about a demonstration of Japanese Woodblock printing?
Bet it would be a popular workshop! How about Baren showing their goods
there? Any takers? I would love to work on that if I had a little help.
It would be a great promotional event for Baren! Could strike up some
interest among collectors and educators! I know there is another conference
(Mid-atlantic ) but I know very little about it. In the past I have only
been able to afford to go to one conference every two years. Any one know
about that conference/organization? Tell me what you think. Contact me
off-site if you want but I am sure others would benefit from your info.
-Will be catching up on Baren emails tonight.. it will be a late night!

Hi everyone, Just wanted to give you an up date on the exchange.I have 28 out 30 sets of prints. I'm waiting on two sets of prints that are being sent by member who were great enough to fill in at the last minute. But if all goes well I should have exchange 18 in the mail the first week in December . I will keep you posted. Gilda
