Paul,

I, too, have an image I can send to you from the Text Messages show -
one that I purchased from an African (Ugandan, I think) artist. The
prints I submitted were monotypes, but I could send a scan of one from
that series, if you're interested. All the monotypes were quite
similar and dealt with the same verse. Alas, I also need an email to
send them to.

Thanks ever so much for your attention,

-My First post to the list was through Wanda, because My Post came to her before she actually received my list membership application, hence, No email address... I think this post should rectify that situation. :-)

-Yup Bobbette, I think I consider it to be the best whole Bible illustrated by one person,
-(even though several others are quite smashing, I just really enjoy the emotional intensity of it.
-I haven't seen a good copy of the Bible, just the now at Barnes and Noble, $20.00 copies. ;-)

Dear Carol, Bobbette and Gayle, I am so very pleased to know that you would care to have me see your work, It would be a great pleasure...

Being a pastor to Artists and Creatives, I have been collecting books that have Biblical images in them now for close to 8 years. I tried to concentrate on 20th century works, as I wanted to include these images in handouts for Artists as they learn to spend time alone with their Creator God. Last fall, I realized that my collection, which because of such limited editions, these books had rarely been seen outside of the rare book rooms of University Libraries, and that there was such a *great* amount of *great* work, I wanted to pull together an assemblage of the greatest woodcuts and wood engravings done on Biblical themes for the past Century, to share with the world.
(the library is now one of the best libraries on Christianity and Arts, in North America, thanks to God's provision.)

Already the book idea is so large that It may just need to be divided into Old and New testaments...

And I have found several artists who have never been published in this book form, and that will be an even greater privilge of sharing such great unpublished works with the world.

One of the personal goals in my life is to help return the Protestant Church to a place of having a positive relationship with Image again.

Towards this end, I have worked on developing a spiritual discipline using images, akin to Lectio Divina, it is called, Visio Divina, - 'Godly Gazing' or, 'Spiriual Seeing'.

I patiently await your return images to enjoy.
(If you all get busy, and send me a lot, My mail box may get full, so if you get a bounced email, send it again on tuesday night, -after I return from taking my wife to San Francisco for the weekend...)

Gratefully,
Only by his Marvelous Grace,
Paul Kiler

Paul,

There are some photos of the Biblical Text messages exhibit at the link
below. Not sure if you have seen these before. Perhaps someone here has
contact info for barener Greg Robison who coordinated the project. Perhaps
thru printmaker Paul Fournax (sp) at the CCP ? Wanda, Barbara ?

http://www.barenforum.org/activities/2002/edinburgh.html

Unfortunately the entire set of prints were never put online at the Baren
website. Good luck with your project and finding other images.

May I recommend you look thru the completed exchanges link below for works
by Daniel Dew and Tyrus Clutter both who follow biblical themes in their
work.

Also the book by Fritz Eichenberg, "Works of Mercy", 1992-93 by Orbis
Books has many wonderful engravings.
