Here is a nice description of the basics/terminology with regard to camera settings. "http://finearts.camden.rutgers.edu/art/CameraSettings.PDF\ When I was taking slides of my work (in the days before digital cameras), I always "bracketed", i.e took multiple shots of each work, each one with different camera settings, usually different "F/stops".  I took at least 4 shots of each piece (and kept records of the settings as I was shooting).  Then I had duplicates made of the best shots. I don't think this caused the crack, there is a lot of pressure on wood that gets wet and then dry over and over again and sometimes it just cracks. It does have a lot of holes drilled in it for the hair and I think this weakens it a bit. This is why we carve on plywood, less chance of cracking. Plank wood needs to be set into a clamp of wood going across the ends to keep it from cracking or warping while printing and then drying out. I love carving wood that is not plywood, but I have some very warped blocks around here....and I am too lazy to try to fix them. Of course I wasn't printing anything fantastic in the first place! Best to you, Barbara Thank you for the tips. I don't know where on earth I got the idea that I need to >let my brush dry standing on its bristles. That must have been what caused it to crack. >I will be a better mommy to my other two virgin brushes. < Now, if I can just save the cracked one with some wire and t.l.c. >Thanks again, Bette. ------------------------------ From: Sharri LaPierre Date: Tue, 4 Nov 2003 09:47:10 -0800 Subject: [Baren 23299] Re: Baren Digest V25 #2430 Hello there all LPE people (that's Large Print Exchange) for the newbies.
