Baren Digest Wednesday, 22 October 2003 Volume 25 : Number 2415 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: GWohlken Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 09:38:38 -0400 Subject: [Baren 23138] Contemplating the Next Exchange Sharri, it seems the education of an artist is ongoing, and Mike, we can't wait until Feb 1 to see just what you did learn. :-) Wait til you see what my two male models were up to. Ha, just kidding. Somehow that doesn't present with the same lilt that Mike's does. Right now It's all still in the hike-in-the-woods-while-contemplating-the-nature-of-nature stage-- a dreamy mixture of falling leaves and imagination at full throttle. There was the beginnings of one unfolding before me, actually. But, I would have been rude to watch. Meanwhile, everything I look at takes on new meaning in light of the project ahead. Gayle >I'm enjoying the comments on the Shunga exchange! Almost laughed my >ass off at Mike's communique, too, but couldn't get rid of it that >easily. Isn't it funny that I think my spouse will be fascinated with >this whole project?? Could gender be an issue here? LOL Please, >someone drop out of #19 so I can get in! Missing sign-up just because >I was suffering through a fantastic trip to So. Italy is patently >unfair!! >Thanks for letting me know about the sign-up Mike - I am on the back-up >list. > >Sharri ------------------------------ From: "Maria Arango" Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 07:59:39 -0700 Subject: [Baren 23139] Invitation to Art Festival Life As if we need something else to do! Everyone is invited to join Art Festival Life, an online group for useful and informative Art Festival conversation and discussion. If interested, just go to the page below and join in! Group information: Art Festival artists and crafters unite! This group is a FRIENDLY! place to come to between festivals. Put your feet up and relax, talk to other traveling artists about art festival life: announce new shows; recommend or whine (gently!) about art shows; post equipment and supplies for sale by owner; talk about anything from health insurance to flat tires; get and give advice; let's chat about this crazy life! Anything related to art festival life goes! No fighting or bickering will be allowed, keep comments on a positive and hopefully humorous note because if you don't have a sense of humor...well, you haven't been doing festivals for long! Carol Lyons ------------------------------ From: Julio.Rodriguez#walgreens.com Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 13:31:27 -0500 Subject: [Baren 23143] Re: 'Mystery' Shunga prints, option to consider Someone in the Shunga exchange wrote me off-list regarding possible "exposure" and sensitivity to our shunga prints. ""I feel perfectly fine doing an erotic print, but if my name's online with it, then it will be a different approach." The original Shunga artists never signed or put their names on their Shunga...I believe it was against the law...why don't we make it interesting and do the same....let's have some fun...if we don't sign our names and just print a list of names w/o specifying print --> artist on the colophon and on the website...the same "mystery" will be there....only the coordinator would know for sure...and WE have ways to make sure he/she keeps quiet.....forever ;-) Our webmaster(s) will be able to code the webpages so that the individual artists get group critique back while retaining their individual anonymity. How about it ? Let's have some fun and a little mystery....Let's do it just like the old masters...we don't sign our prints and we don't associate names to prints anywhere in the exchange or online....this way we can go all out and not be inhibited by possible internet or gallery exposure....(and at least keep some of our spouses happy !!) I noticed someone had asked about this earlier and hadn't seen it addressed yet. I no longer have any aunt anybody to get upset, and as various on an unrelated board are given to addressing me as 'Auntie Spit' I'd be happy to give anyone as wants it dispensation! I think anonymity is fine Julio...but I bet I know which one is Mike's when I see it, and probably would know more the longer I'm here! My initial training was in medical art and I had to learn to draw whatever in front of whoever....using imagination was tougher for me. jan ------------------------------ From: Barbara Mason Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2003 19:16:16 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [Baren 23149] cases for 18 and 18a Friends, These are the people who have ordered cases for 18 or 18a, I have ordered 4 extra cases, when they are gone they are gone.
