Baren Digest Saturday, 18 October 2003 Volume 25 : Number 2411 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: GWohlken Date: Fri, 17 Oct 2003 10:28:03 -0400 Subject: [Baren 23100] Shunga bound books vs boxes or albums Ray, I think you have made a good point about the difficulties in trying to bind the Shunga prints into book form. Also, we don't all use the same strength of paper, and I imagine it would be an uneven book for just that, not to mention the different ways people do their prints (bleed, vs margins). The time it would take to bind would mean probably a larger committee of workers as it would be a huge and time-consuming job for one person to accomplish. ~Gayle >Ray Hudson wrote: > > > >I would prefer the option of purchasing an album to mount the prints >in. I have tried to contact everyone and ask permission, but some web links were broken as were some e-mail addresses. If I missed you, please let me know if you would like to be on my links page (www.laughingcrowstudio.com/links) or if not, if you would like to be removed. thanks, ===== Lezle Williams Laughing Crow Studio http://www.laughingcrowstudio.com ------------------------------ From: Mike Lyon Date: Fri, 17 Oct 2003 10:29:05 -0500 Subject: [Baren 23102] RE: Shunga Album Quick correction! It was NOT Gilda Zimmerling, but rather Darrell Madis who wanted to be a coordinator for #19 (erotic/shunga) exchange... Sorry Gilda (and thanks for the correction), and sorry for omitting your name, Darrell! I got mixed up and copied the wrong line! So the current coordinators-under-consideration are: Gayle Wohlken, John Center, Darrell Madis, and Mike Lyon with the possibility that more than one will be involved in coordinating the shunga exchange... - -- Mike Mike Lyon mailto:mikelyon#mlyon.com http://www.mlyon.com ------------------------------ From: "Chris Bailey @ Support Local Art" Date: Fri, 17 Oct 2003 10:21:21 -0600 Subject: [Baren 23103] Andy English Greetings fellow bareners, Has anybody heard from Andy English lately? If you're out there Andy feel free to answer this question yourself :-) Andy & I exchanged prints a few months ago. We e-mailed a few times when I received my prints, but I have not heard from him since. I sent a few e-mails to him directly, but without response. I hope everything is okay. =Chris= www.supportlocalart.com ps. new woodcuts & a 'how my woodcuts are made' section have been added to my website. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all. ------------------------------ From: "Brad Teare" Date: Fri, 17 Oct 2003 10:36:39 -0600 Subject: [Baren 23104] Lino etching I appreciate the feedback on the advisability of lino etching. Of course, my wife and I could wear HazMat suits but if I spilled some lye and my dog stepped in it I would feel terrible Many thanks for the advice. We shared experiences, opinions , works, lunch, and had a really good time.. It was a very special experience as is every actual meeting with Baren members I showed several of his expert engravings at the Summit in Kansas City. His e-mail was a.english#virgin.net For anyone who travels, put out the call and you will be surprised. They have been done some while and are sitting here in the northwest, wet climate in an unheated studio waiting to dry. Today I went over and turned on a electric heater, closed the door to the room and left them for an hour. I have 21 dry useable prints and others i do not want to use that are dry. There are some good ones sitting there I would prefer to wait to dry and send out. Patience and you should have them before the first of November.
