Thanks for that feedback, I was considering that paper. I will see if I can find something local first tho. Maybe so artists will 'think' they are creating "new horizons"...painting "new paths". Actually, it can be either frustrating or inspiring. My husband prefers paint companies stick to the cave man basics like yellow, red, blue, green.....! It drives him crazy when I mention a color like salmon, apricot, sage, etc. As an ex-graphic designer it helped me to communicate with the client by using food, plants, etc. to get close to the colors they had in mind. I bet interior designers are the culprit to crazy color names! My one person show is finally done and up...it has been a very busy couple of months for me since Kansas City. I just talked to my "web guy" and it is sort of up but he promised me it would all be there by this afternoon.....it is all solarplates. Sort of wierd to annonce that on a woodblock forum but I admit that woodblock it my secret passion and I have lots of fun with it and never show the work. Maybe someday if I get as good at it as Wanda. In the meantiime, see my new work at my gallery here in Portland. Waterstone Gallery 424 NW 12th Ave, between Glisan and Flanders. Party tonight from 6-8pm. Lots of fun and good food. If you live close show up! or go see it later today on the gallery site at http://www.waterstonegallery.com/shows/September-2003/ This is an artist owned gallery I have belonged to since it's beginning in 1992. Hard to believe it has been that long! Now that this show is up, I will get cranking on my calendar prints...the blocks are ready so I just need to print. By the way, you can see Wanda's woodblocks on the www.printartsnw.org site. See some of you soon, Best to all, Barbara ------------------------------ From: "Robert Canaga" Date: Wed, 3 Sep 2003 11:02:13 -0700 Subject: [Baren 22665] Re: Barbara's one person show Barbara, I will be up on Thursday next to see it! Hey, Barbara! Congratulations! That's just great! Your intaglios appear very rich on the site. Your imagery appears to lend itself to moku-hanga, by the way (just thought I ought to throw that in), but it'd be a lot more passes of paper over matrix... The solar-plate prints are just lovely, though I cannot be at the festivities this week I will be sure to look in on your work later on this month. Since you mentioned a solar plate show I hope you all won't mind taking a peek at the new Dan Smith Reference catalogue for an etching that I made a while back (page 91). I do have some wood block prints at http://www.orcity.org/parks-and-recreation then go to the Carnegie Center. I recently returned from teaching woodcuts at an Elder Hostel (Snow Farm in Mass.) for a week. Had a terrific class. I took along 3 albums of New Year Prints and they were a great source of inspiration for everyone. Recently had 4 woodcuts in an invitational show at the Basin Harbor Club here in Vermont & actually sold 15. Pretty amazing. Julio, never fear: I have my calendar blocks cut and am about to print. For those who were at the Baren Summit: I'm still at work on the little momento I promised--but where did the summer go?
