Baren Digest Thursday, 5 June 2003 Volume 23 : Number 2250 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ArtfulCarol#aol.com Date: Wed, 4 Jun 2003 10:35:28 EDT Subject: [Baren 21707] Editioning Chris, about your question": One final question -> should all editioned prints be printed in one session? Is it acceptable to print 25 prints (of 50, for example) I understand that the 50 number can be your expectation to print that many, not necessarily what is already printed. So I would say it is acceptable Carol L. ------------------------------ From: "Jean Womack" Date: Wed, 4 Jun 2003 09:34:20 -0700 Subject: [Baren 21708] Re: Baren Digest V23 #2249 At San Francisco State we were able to print etchings on silk paper, probably because they had the presses adjusted so well. I guess the thickness of BFK is an aid to a good print on those presses which are not so finely tuned. NOT SPEEDBALL INK? Barbara is right, it is less pigmented. Just because Dan can get good prints doesn't mean most folks can and I still say: If Dan can get those prints with Speedball, just think of what he could get with professional grade inks! For the record, litho or etching inks can be modified for blocks - a lot of us use them exclusively. I modify with Graphic Chemical's equivalent of Miracle Gel and it is wonderful. I don't know who wiggles with joy more, the print or me, but we do have a marvelous time. If you start with a high quality black it will be so richly pigmented that a little modifier will not lessen the strength or depth of color. Hey furry John, what ink do you use to print on leather? I have used acrylic paint brushed on woodblock or speedy-cut stuff and hand-printed on t-shirts (which would probably work on leather) but just curious what you use. best wishes Sarah ------------------------------ From: FurryPressII#aol.com Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2003 04:36:26 EDT Subject: [Baren 21713] Re: leather printing? i use oil based graphic chem ink. I have been wareing the jacket with the leather print for more than a year with no ill effect on the ink or leather so it seems to hold up very well.. oops for the blank posts as i have a new computer and it does not work the same way as my old one and i am not a computer geek for sure. john center ------------------------------ End of Baren Digest V23 #2250 *****************************
