DANG !! Sorry, aimee and EVERYbody! I hit reply and cut aimee's address meaning to paste it into my STUPID re-posting of a LONG note and doubled the problem... I'm totally incompetent this morning. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, etc. Didn't mean to post that to the list! - -- Mike ------------------------------ From: Mike Lyon Date: Thu, 29 May 2003 11:15:12 -0500 Subject: [Baren 21656] Re: deck of cards exchange At 09:35 AM 5/29/2003 +0200, Colleen wrote: >I was actually thinking about asking a tipographer how much it would >cost to have a complete set of cards printed and laminated so that we >would all have an artist's set plus a commercial set with our own design >to play with. > >What do you think about this idea? What a gas to play with a set of plastic coated artist's cards! How cool would that be? Very! Love the idea and hope it works! Put me down for multiple commercial decks! What great gifts if cheap enough! (Scan several per page and off to Kinkos for color copies and lamination) It seems like a lot of work for you to take upon yourself. I'm sure glad to learn we don't have to round those corners - just the thought kept me awake for weeks. I can't even imagine what it did to Maria. Kat, keep smiling - you have every reason to do so! Thanks for sending the link to the band. Barbara, the Indisputed Queen of Plastic, never fails to come up with yet another use for it! You are truly amazing - that brain never rests. Actually, I don't think any of Barbara ever sleeps because how else could she get everything done that she does? Truly, folks, she is the most energetic person and accomplishes more in a minute than most of us do in a week. And, does plastic and makes prints, too. I plan to really rest up in Knasas City...no cooking, no laundry, no cleaning, no worring about family....a true vacation to my way of thinking! Also I plan to sleep 8 hours every night....unless I am too excited about printmaking to do so. With hanga how do you have time to do this without the ink drying out before you print? I can see this would work with oil-based inks because of how long they stay moist. But with hanga you have to move so fast I can't see how you have time to tape anything. Also, how does tape stick to the wet borders of the board? " Dunno...I just cut four pieces of paper tape the length of my borders and after I dip/splash/rub-a-dub-dub my color/paste on the block...I quickly place the tape across all my edges....then gently lay the paper down on it's kento.... After printing I remove the print, remove the tapes....and repeat the process....it goes pretty fast....but it obviously slows me down at the tune of 1/2 minute - 1 minute or so per print....if the tape gets dirty or it does not stick..I replace it with another piece....it really does not have to stick too much to the block it kinda just lays there to protect the print's border.
